The new version of the EU toy safety standards released

 On December 21, 2016, the European Commission for Standardization issued a new edition of "nitrosamines and nitrosamines" (EN 71-12: 2016). The standard will be converted into a member state standard by June 2017 and the conflict criteria will be revoked by no later than that date.

The main amendments to the new standards include:

1. Amend the definition of "finger paint" to be consistent with the definition in the European Standard, "Safety of Toys, Part 7: Requirements and Test Methods for Paint Pigments" (EN 71-7: 2014);

2, using the definition of "elastomer" in the ISO standard "Plastics - Vocabulary" (ISO 472: 2013);

3, using porous graphite (PGC) reversed phase (C18) high performance liquid chromatography (HLPC) column as an additional option for analysis;

4, to increase the toy and balloon outside the toy parts of the extraction process of the new procedures;

5, to increase the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the multi-reaction monitoring - conversion (MRM-conversion) method.

 

In July last year, the European Union revised the limit of bisphenol A in the Toy Safety Directive to tighten the limit of bisphenol A for children under 3 years of age to 0.04 mg / l. The restrictions on four commonly used preservatives will also be added to the toy. In this, inspection and quarantine departments also remind the relevant toy business, quality risk focus on prevention. Related toy manufacturers, traders and related industry associations should pay close attention to the relevant EU laws and regulations and other relevant information, in advance to respond to; in accordance with the relevant requirements as soon as possible to take measures from the structural design, raw material selection and other sources to prevent security risks; Yan inspection, to ensure that products meet the requirements of the importing country to ensure quality and safety, to avoid unnecessary losses.
